This is a cute series and its funny and sexy as well. They are a bit pricey for me so I normally wait for a sale or when I can afford to buy them.

Jess and Patrick are in this book too a little as well. I honestly liked Eva's character way more than I liked Jessica. Jess wasn't nearly as annoying in this book though. Eva is/was the librarian when she was killed by Lorcan. She is a bookworm and dressed the part before she died. Things change. Her daughter Tamara is fun too in a goth like way. :) Eva's got a gift and animals are drawn to her and she can kinda speak telepathically to them IF they can shift into a human form or were humans at one point. She can also make them do her bidding. Which is cool but she doesnt like doing that unless she has to. She's still the sweet and funny librarian but can be a little kick ass too in her way.

Lorcan still blames himself for what he's done to people. One some level he should but then again it wasn't necessarily his fault he was infected by The Taint. He is a bit of a downer in the book through most of it. Its really sweet and cute that he's protective of Eva. I will tell you he's got a way with words. I mean he's a writer of many books. He's a romantic I think too. At first he fights his attraction but as he knows her and tries to protect her he can't help himself. I think Eva and Lorcan had chemistry...maybe not as intense as Patrick and Jess were at first but its still there. I think it will only get better as Lorcan can find a way to forgive himself.

Lots of exciting and interesting twists in this book. I wont give everything away but I am a bit miffed that poor Johnny....I just can't say it! Why? Why did ya do that Michele? :( He was awesome and I would have liked to know more about his character and see it develop! I guess there is a reason but I dont see it yet. Hmmph!

This was a quirky and funny book. With a bit of sweet romance in it also. Can't wait to read about Patsy which is next. I do recommend the book and I only rated this a 4 star because I did want to have more about Eva and Lorcan as a couple and more development and growth in Lorcan's character. One last thing...I started this book and couldnt stop reading but once I did it was 4am...no kidding! LOL.

Don't Talk Back To Your Vampire Broken Heart Oklahoma Book 2 Michele Bardsley 9780451221704 Books Reviews

Literally read this book in 2 hours. The Gaelic writing is so beautiful. I adore the Irish culture and it feels so real in this novel. But most of all I loved the vocabulary. New words are such a treat. If you loved the first book, you will love this one. Everyone is so down to earth and the writing style makes it fun. I especially love my new set of Gaelic swears. So definitely buy it and read it. It is absolutely a wonderful, tantalizing read.
The vampires are quite different from other author's concept of them. It is a well-developed paranormal universe with great characters. Each vampire line has special skills, and I really loved the heroine's skill of attracting and communicating with animals or shifters in their animal forms. The story follows well from the first book, picking up with another couple, but still letting us know what is happening with the lovebirds from the first book. The enemies were intense in a new way, and the day was saved, but the fight isn't over. There was also some humor that kept me chuckling.
The second in the Broken Heart Oklahoma series, "Don't Talk Back To Your Vampire" tells the tale of Broken heart librarian Eva. Eva was killed and turned into a vampire a few months back, when Lorcan, a vampire suffering from a disease called 'the taint' went on a spree and murdered several housewives and a househusband. These deceased were immediately turned into vampires by a vampire polictical group with plans to take over the town and turn it into a safe haven for all things unworldly. Eva and her 12 year old daughter are adjusting to their new lives, when Eva finds herself with new vamp side effect powers. She has an effinity for animals and they are drawn to her. She is also able to mind read animals that were once human. This just gets her involved in a mess and a power play when the band of Wraiths and even an Ancient want to get to her. Locan tries to protect her but he has his own secrets. This book was a quick, lighthearted read. At times the story is humourous but I think the author thinks she is funnier than she really is. That is unfortunate because from her notes and other things I have read I can tell she is just a fabulous person. I am all for quick, quirky reads but the biggest fault of this series it that the author doesn't do enough description and she leaves things hanging frequently and the reader is expected to fill in the gaps. The basic plot of the series is a winner. The characters, although they too could use some more definition, are good and likeable. I love the kid/parent interactions but there need to be more of them if this series is working the mommy angle. Still, I really enjoyed this one more than the first and I have the next one in my room, ready to be read. I can hope this series will continue to improve. I hope it does because I do see a lot of potential.
What is the book about?

Eva LeRoy is the town librarian and another single parent that has been turned vampire in the town of Broken Heart, OK. Not much has changed with her lifestyle, even her teenage daughter seems to be okay with her mother's new lifestyle.
Eva is trying her best to keep a positive outlook on things, at least her stretch marks and crows feet have suddenly disappeared. The only downfall is she has to sleep in the basement of her home, that doubles as the town library.

Eva isn't even upset that Lorcan O'Halloran has turned her into a vamp, she understands that he was sick from the virus, but Lorcan is having a difficult time forgiving himself as he mopes around town.

What did I think of the book?

Another funny and romantic story by Bardsley. She hooked me in when I read her first book, and now I'm addicted. I can't wait to read the rest of the series, to see how all the single parents in Broken Heart are coping with becoming a vampire. I promise this is a series you must start!
